Kailash Manasarovar Pilgrimage Tour

Mount Kailash (6714m.) is a holy mountain which is part of the Himalayas in Tibet and the source of some of the longest rivers in Asia the Indus, the Brahmaputra, the Karnali and the Sutlej. To each pilgrim Kailash speaks differently. Hindus cross the frozen mountain passes of India and Nepal to circle the peak that is Shiva's throne and bath in the lake created from the Mind-Manas of Brahma. Buddhists journey from Ladakh, Bhutan, Nepal, Mongolia and every corner of Tibet to Mount Kailash which they call 'Kall Rinpoche', the 'Precious Snow Mountain'. The Jain religion knows Kailash as Mount Ashtapada and to the Bonpo, followers of Tibet's old pre-Buddhist beliefs; it is the 'Nine-Storey Swastika Mountain', the mystic soul of the entire region.

Hindu, Buddhist and Jain pilgrims make a clockwise circuit of Mount Kailash. Bon-Po tradition is to circumambulate Mount Kailash in the opposite direction. As you circle Kailash by the traditional route, you will meet followers of Bon-Po making a Kora in the opposite direction.

Road conditions are difficult much of the time and we have to make many preparations to ensure that we have a reasonable chance of reaching Kailash. We need to bring our own food and camping equipment together with medical supplies. Basic lodges and tea-houses can be found but the plateau is so remote that it is possible to travel for several days without finding food available. Years of experience has made Mac Tours and Travels (P) Ltd a safe, reliable and a leading company to operate Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra.

There are hundreds of tour operators who operate Kailash Manasarovar Yatra but only few of them operate it with special care and we are one of them.
