Home News Govt. felicitates women summiteers

 

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) felicitated members of FirstInclusive Women Sagarmatha Expedition (FIWSE) and oldest Everest summiteer Min Bahadur Sherchan amidst a programme organised recently in Kathmandu.
Secretary at MoCTCA Mr. Lilamani Poudyal felicitated the successful Everest summiteers. Speaking on the ceremony, secretary Poudyal said that the exemplary feat of the summiteers would help encourage other people. 'You have proved that nothing is impossible for mankind,' he added.
Ms. Susmita Maskey, Ms. Maya Gurung, Ms. Nawang Phuti Sherpa, Ms. Pemba Diki Sherpa, Ms. Poojan Acharya, Ms. Shailee Basnet, Ms. Usha Bista, Ms. Asha Kumari Singh and Ms. Pemba Diki Sherpa were the members of FIWSE. Similarly, Min Bahadur Sherchan, the team leader of Senior Citizen Everest Expedition 2008, had reached the summit on May 25.
Speaking on the occasion, Sherchan said that he climbed Mt. Everest to do something for his country. Likewise, Maskey said that their expedition succeeded because of the team effort. 'Being an inclusive team, we had members of different community and cultural background. We had unity and confidence because of which the summit became possible,' Maskey said.
This season more than 250 summiteers from 32 different expeditions reached the summit of Mt. Everest.
Meanwhile, Pasang Lhamu Mountaineering Federation (PLMF) has also felicitated the women summiteers at a programme organised recently in PLMF premises. ......
