You head out through exquisite forests of pine,rhododendron an fir to emerge on the Kaphe Glacier, from where you climb up and over French Pass(5240m). You descend into the wild and untravelled valleys beyond where Bharal(blue sheep) can sometimes still be seen in Summer. The route then takes you over Thapa La Pass (5250m), with exceptional views of the great Kali Gandaki Gorge, before the steep down into the valley and return walk to Pokhara.
Autumn and Spring season is recommended for this route.
From Kathmandu you drive to Pokhara, Nepal largest second town set on the shores of lake Phewa lake. You spend a day here relax before taking the flight up the great Kali Gandaki valley to Jomsom where the trek start. The trail continuous to climb onto this southern edge of the Tibetan Plateau towards Mustang.
There are several passes before you reach the valley. You can look down into the Tholung Valley to the walled city of Lo-Manthang. Three days here enables you to explore this remarkable medival city with its monasteries and palace.
