Plan in details for the trek and climbing.
Half day sightseeing to Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Shyambhunath Stupa. Rest day is free to buy necessary things for the trek and climb.
Early morning fly to lukla and commence the trek to Mera peak. We ascend slowly for 3 hours and steep up for 1 hour and reach Thukdingma for camping. The views of Numbur (6957m), Karyolung (6511m), Kwangde (6011m) are magnificent from here.
Today, we walk easy trail all the day passing through the jungle and grassland. We arrive in Tsetre for camping.
We ascend slowly passing through the jungle. We find virtually, no human settlement on the trail. We arrive in Thaksingdingma (3500m) for Camping.
We walk all day through the side of the mountain and the trail is narrow. The patches of the jungle on the trail become thinner as we ascend near the snow line. We camp at Thagnang.
It is worth spending an extra day at Thagnang, which is in a superb setting surrounded by stunning peaks. There is a huge moraine in the north of Thagnak where a beautiful glacial lake, Sabai Tsho is dammed. It is worth exploring around for acclimatization purpose. Thagnak is also a base for climbing east and northeast side of Kushum Kanguru.
We follow the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka, which offers the spectacular views of Charpate Himal. The trail climbs through moraines and to the snout of the Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers and then climbs more steeply to Khare (5,099m).
We ascend for three hours and arrive at Mera La (5,415m). Normally, the pass will be covered with snow from November to April. Again the view from the pass is spectacular. We descend about 100m towards the Hongu side and set up the base camp (5,300m) in the moraine below the ice.
You can explore around or climb up for a few hours and come back to the Mera Base Camp for the night.
We walk up for 4 hours and set up the high camp and make preparation for the next day to get to the summit.
Today we go to the summit and the views of Pumori (7161m), Lhotse (8516m) Makalu (8463m), Lobuche (6145m), Cho Oyu (8201m) are spectacular from the summit. We return to Base Camp.
The trail descend slowly viewing the majestic views Mt. Chomalama, enjoy pleasant walk, valley widen and slowly climb up.Camp at Chomolama Base Camp.
Today trail passes several glacial lakes, along the river valley, pleasant walk enjoy the Glacier and waterfalls, trail slowly ascend to Panch Pokhari.
Beautiful walk, mountain views are great including Mt. Makalu, Mt Barunche, Below high camp there is a huge Glacial Lake which is very pious for Hindus Pilgrimage, valley is wide and surrounded by unnamed mountains that are full snow covered all the year. Reaching at High Camp, yours Sherpa go to Fix the Rope on the pass, enjoy the views and relax.
We start an early morning, takes two hrs to reach on the top, after the top for about 100 meters very steep and one has to descend with help of rope and also transfer our luggage by rope. One should be very careful this portion. There are a lot of chances of loosing equipment and damaging the things. After reaching the base camp, check our things, if everything arrived or not, then continue walking to Island Peak Base Camp
Climb to Island Peak High Camp.4/5 hrs. O/N at Camp.
Summit to the top of Island Peak (6160m) then return to Base Camp.8/9 hrs. O/N at Camp.
