Naya Kanga (5,844m) Peak Climbing

Naya Kanga (5844) formerly known as Ganja La Chuli, rises to the west of Ganja La, and is a popular but difficult mountain to climb. The normal route to this peak is via the snowy north/east ridge. It is not yet clear who climbed this summit first. This Peak is located in Langtang region.

Langtang region is a popular destination for climbing snow peaks and spectacular panoramic views of mountains in Nepal and Tibet. Easy access to the region and availability of several snow peaks scattered around for acclimatization make this region an ideal destination for novice as well as experienced climbers.

Ascending to Ganja La Chuli or the summit of Naya Kanga offer the spectacular panoramic views of mountains in Nepal and Tibet including Langshisa Ri (6,370m), Pemthang Ri (6,836m), Shisapangma (8,046m), Langtang Lirung (7,425m), Pemthang Kapro Ri (6,830m) and Langtang II (6,571m).

The real trip to the summit of Naya Kanga starts from Dhunche. From Dhunche the trail leads slowly up to the Kyanjin Gompa. Then, you continue up the base camp crossing Ganja la Pass 5130m, which is one of the strenuous passes. Normally it takes two days to ascend the peak, and then you pass to the Dukpu, Tarkeghyang, and Sermathang to the Melamchi Bazaar from where you can drive back to Kathmandu.
